Frequently Asked Questions
How does it work?

It’s really easy:

  • Just pick a piece from the shelf. We have got loads to choose from. The price will be written on the item felt tip (don’t worry this comes off in the kiln) and this is the total price you pay, which includes the item itself, studio fees, hand glazing and time in the kiln.
  • Take it back to your table, and one of our knowledgeable staff members will talk to you about your design and give you some tips on how to bring your design to live.
  • Everything you will need is on your table along with a numbered glazed colour menu pot to help you see what the paint looks like after its been hand glazed and fired.
  • Can’t think what you’d like to paint? Don’t worry we have a huge catalogue of pictures to go through with you and some actual finished pieces for you to be inspired by. Don’t forget to order a delicious drink and snack from the café to keep you going.
  • Once you are happy with your piece, we will take it away and finish off the process for you.
  • Come back when it’s ready and pick up your beautifully shiny piece of pottery ready to be someone’s individual gift or have pride of place in your home.
When can I pick up my pottery?
Normally it takes about 7 days for us to get your pieced glazed and fired in the kiln, but at busier times it could take a little longer. We will let you know when you finish painting how long it is likely to take. Please don’t wait for a phone call from us, we will only call if we anticipate that there will be a delay. As long as you come back after 7 days and before 3 months then that is fine. Anything left with us for longer than 3 months will be taken to the charity shop.

Just call in to our pottery pick up counter at the back of the shop and we will wrap your shiny piece of pottery for you.

Where can I park?

We have a large car park at the back that is accessed along the right side of the shop. If our car park is full, there is lots of free parking in Studley just a few minutes walk away.

Are you dog friendly?
Not only are we friendly, we are obsessed. Our shop dog Ruby may be on hand to welcome your pooch too.

Why not have a pawble for Christmas with your furry friend’s paw print on it or a mug for their favourite dog mum.

We have lots of free dog treats and you can order a puppuccino for your furry best friend!
Are you wheelchair accessible?

Accessibility is really important to us and yes we do have dedicated disabled parking and an extra wide door to our rear painting room which is very close to the car park.

Unfortunately we do not have a disabled toilet yet, but we are very excited to announce that we will have one in our new accessible area that will be completed in March 2025.

Our staff are very skilled with supporting painters of all abilities and, particularly with any additional learning needs, so please let us know what adaptations you might need when you book with us.

Do you have baby change facilities?

Yes we do, plus lots of high chairs, bumbos and room for buggies!

Do you have adult only sessions in the evening?

Yes we do! The first Friday of each month is our late opening session. Catch up with friends over a glass of something from our extensive or try one of our delicious hot drinks. We are licenced to sell a range of pre mixed cocktails, wines and beers, plus you can order additional full bottles of prosecco for your group.

For just £10 per ticket you get a glass of prosecco and nibbles on your table. We also often run special charity night where a portion of each ticket price is donated to a worthy cause.

To book please go to our events page.

Please note that pottery purchased on the night is not included in your ticket price. Prices start at about £15. Tickets are non refundable.

Can I book a party, hen do or baby shower?

What a great idea! Take the hassle out of party planning and let us do it all for you. Our Loft can hold up to 20 people very comfortably and can be booked for any occasion. Painters from 7 – 107 are very welcome.

You can bring your own food or have it delivered. Your team member will take orders for additional hot drinks, alcoholic drinks and cakes for your guests. A jug of squash is provided for children’s parties. If you do bring your own food, we ask that you take your rubbish home with you.

Just pay the £50 room booking fee for 2.5 hour parties and for each party piece you paint. Children’s party pieces are £17.50 each.

Our Loft has its own bathroom and entrance so it really is a cosy and private place for your function.

We can also add on commissioned items such as a hen for your hen do or a plate for your baby shower.

Go to our party page for more info and to make a booking.

Could you come to my event?
Yes you can book us to come to your party, to your group event such as scouts, rainbows, church or community group, or to corporate team building at your work place.

We will bring everything with us, all we need from you is a table to put it all on and access to a sink.

Go to our private functions page for more information and to request a booking.
Do you serve vegan or gluten free alternatives?

Yes. We have oat milk for hot drinks, milkshakes, chai lattes and iced lattes plus a range of vegan and gluten free tasty treats on offer.

Our range changes regularly but we will always try to have a vegan or gluten free alternative when possible.

How long do I get to paint?

You will have access to your table for 2 hours which is normally plenty of time to complete your piece and squeeze in a coffee!

If you need a little bit longer we can let you stay for an extra hour for a studio fee of £5 per person painting.

If you would like to take it home to paint at your leisure, we can provide you with some extra paint and you can return it to us for glazing. No extra charge!

Do you provide paint at home kits?

Paint at home kits are perfect gifts for young and old.

We can put together a tailor made paint at home kit with an appropriate item that has paints and instructions.

For larger groups you can pay £50 refundable deposit on a large box with everything you would need for a session for up to 20 people, including all paint colours, brushes, palettes, sponges, instructions, felt pens and colour charts.

Bring the box back with your pottery so it can be glazed and you will receive your £50 back, so that you only pay for the pottery pieces that you have painted.

Can I buy a gift voucher?

You can buy vouchers in two ways.

Call into our shop to pick up a cute hand painted tile that has the amount painted onto it. This can be brought back in and redeemed against anything that we sell, including pottery, items at the till, adult event tickets and even coffee and a cake!

Or you can call us on 01527 852870 to pay for your e-voucher which can emailed directly for you to forward on to the lucky person it is being bought for. Again, these can be used against all items in store.
